Turns out that Hugh Jackman the Tony award winning actor, singer, dancer and all around one man show is an avid coffee drinker.
Wolverine’s latest venture combines his love of coffee and his love of humanity. Laughing Man coffee is a company that teams up with farmers who focus on sustainable practices to create coffee, tea, and chocolate.
Inspired while on a trip to Ethiopia in 2009, Jackman befriended a coffee farmer with an environmentally sustainable practice. The actor says he spent a few hours working in the farm and learning the harvesting process.
“I understood how hard his life is, but I was also inspired” said Hugh. The family’s positive attitude in the face of hardships while doing great things for the environment inspired the actor, and he promised the family he would do whatever he could to support them, and farmers in his situation.
Laghing man coffee pays farmers a premium for their high-end product with the goal to improve their lives and the well being of their communities.
“It’s great coffee,” says Jackman, “and I want people to buy it because it’s good, and they like it. The bonus here is that it will also give back.”
Since 1993, coffee sales worldwide have increased from $13.5 billion to $18.5 billion.
